Vital Martial Arts Academy Goes International: Lucia Viscito Represents at 17th Spring Dragon Wushu Tournament
Here at Vital Martial Arts Academy, our core philosophy is the quiet pursuit of excellence. This month, that pursuit took us to the world stage.
We are incredibly proud to share that VMAA’s Lucia Viscito traveled to Catanzaro, Italy, to compete in the 17th Spring Dragon Wushu International Tournament (June 5–7, 2026).

Lucia Viscito’s Tournament Results:
Fresh off earning her VMAA Red Belt last month, Lucia brought her characteristic focus, discipline, and hard work to Europe. Competing in a packed international field, here is how she performed:
- 4th Place – Shaolin
- 3rd Place – Traditional Long Weapon
- 3rd Place – Shan Weapons (Fan)
- 3rd Place – 32 movements Changquan
- 2nd Place – 32 movements Gun Shu
- 2nd Place – 32 movements Dao Shu/Jian Shu
While winning medals on the global stage is thrilling, the real victory is the humble example of dedication Lucia sets for every student on our home training floor.
About the Spring Dragon Wushu International Tournament
The Spring Dragon Wushu International Tournament is widely recognized as one of the largest, most prestigious Chinese martial arts events in Europe.
Hosted in the beautiful Calabria region of Italy, the event brings together elite global delegations to compete under strict international standards. The tournament features world-class Wesing platforms for both Taolu (forms) and Sanda (combat), alongside high-level international judging. Beyond the competition, it serves as a massive cultural exchange, bridging traditional martial arts with modern athletic excellence.
Gratitude to Host Master Massimo Scalzo
An event of this massive scale requires visionary leadership. VMAA extends our deepest respect and gratitude to tournament host Massimo Scalzo and the Accademia Centrale Wushu Catanzaro.
From seamless coordination to providing live broadcasts for families watching worldwide, Master Scalzo and his team created an incredible environment of hospitality and elite sportsmanship. We were deeply honored to participate.
“The true value of martial arts lies not in competing against others, but in mastering oneself.”
Please join us in giving Lucia a warm welcome back when you see her at the academy!
