January has been an incredible month of growth and grit at VMAA. As we kick off 2026, our students are already proving that hard work and consistency pay off. From our youngest martial artists taking their first steps to our advanced students reaching elite levels, the energy on the mats has been electric.
A Major Achievement: Sorina Codita Earns Red Belt
On January 24, the Vital Martial Arts FAmily family witnessed a massive milestone. Sorina Codita successfully tested for her Red Belt.
In our curriculum, the Red Belt is a symbol of advanced proficiency and deep dedication. It represents a student who has moved past the basics and is now mastering the complexities of their art. Sorina’s journey to this rank has been defined by discipline and a “never-quit” attitude. We are incredibly proud of this huge achievement—congratulations, Sorina!

The Next Generation: Little Dragons Rise
On January 29, it was time for our Little Dragons to take the spotlight. These young martial artists have been working hard on their focus, balance, and basic techniques.
We are thrilled to announce that two of our rising stars have earned their very first White Belts:
-
Anita Gomez-Moreno
-
Sonja Mayer
Earning that first belt is a moment these students (and their parents!) will never forget. It marks the official beginning of their martial arts journey, and we can’t wait to see them continue to grow.

Success on the mat translates to success in life. Whether it’s the bravery shown by our Little Dragons or the perseverance shown by Sorina, these tests remind us why we train.
Keep pushing, keep practicing, and we’ll see you in class!
